Navitera is committed to delivering high quality feasibility studies that drive innovation in upstream offshore development. Recently, we collaborated with an upstream operator to create a forward-thinking development plan that optimizes existing well infrastructure while setting the stage for sustainable, long-term operations.
Overview In this project, Navitera spearheaded a comprehensive feasibility and development initiative aimed at streamlining offshore field development. Our focus was to integrate cost-effective, high-efficiency methodologies tailored to the offshore sector, ensuring both operational excellence and long-term value creation
By combining in-depth technical expertise with a collaborative approach, Navitera and our client worked towards:
- Conducting feasibility studies
- Performing FPSO FEED analysis and selection
- Executing cost–time optimization
- Designing subsea architecture
- Monitoring drilling programs
- Preparing conceptual field layouts
- Specifying FPSO conversion requirements
- Identifying the most suitable shipyards for conversion
Project Scope
Our scope focused on evaluating new field development opportunities, optimizing infrastructure, and planning for future FPSO conversions and deployments.

Collaboration Partners
Navitera and an upstream offshore operator.
Objective
To enhance the region’s existing well infrastructure through detailed feasibility studies and tailored development solutions enabling smarter resource utilization and long-term operational sustainability.
Challenges Addressed
We tackled several critical challenges:
- Assessing site feasibility with precision data
- Identifying viable new field locations
- Integrating new developments seamlessly into the existing offshore network
Our approach was structured, phased, and aligned with both industry best practices and project-specific objectives.
Navitera’s Technical Approach
1. Field Layout Design
We began by conceptualizing an optimal offshore field layout, using detailed bathymetric data and existing well positions to determine the best sites for new wells. The design met strict CAPEX, OPEX, and FDP targets maximizing flowline efficiency and supporting strategic rig mobilization.
2. FPSO FEED Study Integration
Our feasibility work incorporated essential operational elements, including:
- Heat map analysis
- Process flow diagrams
- Equipment sizing
- Power demand calculations
- Water and gas package specifications
This ensured that every decision met technical compliance requirements and was strategically aligned with the development plan.
3. Offshore Field Identification
Following feasibility assessments, we identified optimal offshore field locations. This phase included defining the FPSO conversion scope and producing accurate budget estimates to guide investment decisions.
4. FPSO Shipyard Conversion
We shortlisted shipyards capable of handling both wet and dry dock conversion requirements. Logistics and transportation routes were also mapped out to ensure operational readiness for future expansions.
Outcome & Solution Delivered
The result was a structured, cost-effective roadmap for FPSO field assessment, site identification, and shipyard conversion. By delivering actionable insights and a clear execution plan, Navitera empowered the upstream operator to make informed decisions, accelerate project readiness, and support the region’s long-term offshore sustainability goals.
